Humanitarian & Compassionate application

The H&C application is for the people who are in exceptional situations for whom usual legal approaches are unfair and require a different and discretionary treatment to exempt them from virtually all requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).

 

It is not necessary to have a valid passport in order to apply on the H&C grounds to become a permanent resident. 

 

The application may be filed from within Canada or outside Canada, depending on your situation. If any of the following factors apply to you, then you may qualify for the permanent residency under the H&C program (see below):
